History of Thomas Toys
Thomas Toys of Clifton, New Jersey was one of the many small American firms that took up injection moulding in the years after the war and produced cheap plastic figures and vehicles for the five-and-dime and premium trade. Cowboys, Indians, farm sets and small vehicles in single-colour polystyrene, sold bagged, carded or from bins.
The output is essentially indistinguishable in character from that of Lido, Nosco, Pyro and a dozen others working the same market, and much of it was supplied to other companies to package under their own names. What separates these makers is mould detail rather than concept, which is why collector reference work on early American plastics is organised around comparing mouldings.
Thomas Toys operated for roughly a decade. Documentation is minimal, and this entry says so rather than constructing a corporate narrative from nothing.
